San Diego’s East County can provide everything you would want for a Southern Californian lifestyle. East County is made up of the incorporated cities of La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee and Lemon Grove. The region also has many unincorporated communities such as Rancho San Diego, Alpine, Lakeside and Spring Valley.
The weather in East County is consistently sunnier than on the coast, though the Pacific Ocean is only 20 minutes away. The region boasts excellent educational opportunities, a wide assortment of housing options that are surprisingly more affordable than other San Diego suburbs, and the added benefit of quicker commute times than other San Diego communities to downtown San Diego.
East County is just minutes away from San Diego State University and the University of San Diego, and just a few additional minutes to the University of California at San Diego.
The region is served by mass transit with two lines of the San Diego Trolley serving La Mesa, El Cajon and Santee.
Weather
San Diego’s East County has some of the best weather in the nation. At it’s coldest in January; lows are in the mid 40’s with highs in the high 60’s. The warmest month for East County is traditionally August with highs reaching the high 80’s and lows in the mid 60’s. March on average is the rainiest month of the year with an average of 2.66 inches.
Though only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, East County has many more sunny days than along the coast, which is why we call it the "Sunny Side of San Diego".
